Understanding your HFE letter

What the assessment tells you, what to prepare, and why it belongs near the start of your plans.

It brings several checks together.

The HDB Flat Eligibility letter informs you of the assessed eligibility to buy a new or resale flat, CPF housing grants and an HDB housing loan. The details apply to the household and circumstances declared in the application.

Prepare a consistent household application.

HDB may need information and documents from the people in your application. Follow the current instructions rather than relying on an old document list. If your circumstances change, check what must be updated before continuing.

Eligible and comfortable are different questions.

A maximum assessed loan is a ceiling, not a monthly budget you have to use. Consider income changes, recurring commitments, future family expenses, renovation and retirement savings. Use the calculators to test scenarios, then return to the official assessment for what you can actually borrow.
